Shame
I hide in this skin from this soul, for I fear
that I’m not worth accepting
As I am
as I was
I’m a novelty now
hiding my truth and toughening my shell
Curl up and cower
crawl deep inside
and fall fast asleep
no one wants your raw beauty
they only want sheep.
Inertia
I want to feel important enough to be remembered
without needing to be remembered to be important.
I want to feel loved enough to be loved as I am
without needing to be anything else to be loved.
I want to feel worthy enough to be heard
without needing to be heard to be worthy.
I want to make an impact on the world
without taking the time to make an impact.
I want to be the example in your life
without living my life by example.
I want to feel changed
without doing the work.
Time for rest.
Ceaseless Conclusion
A moment
of silence, please
because she who just
died is who I
thought I was.
