Dreams

Dreams are dreams until they manifest into the timeless flow of now. Then they become your dreams realized. Never give up on your dreams. Never let them fall by the wayside. For your dreams will only fail to come true if you stop pursuing them. Life is short. Tomorrow isn’t promised. Live each day with an awareness of purpose. Your dreams matter. Chase them with unwavering courage, faith and wisdom.

Everything is God

Here’s a simple perspective to inject into our lives: everything is God. Everything that we can taste, smell, feel, see and hear is God. All of our thoughts, emotions, desires and actions are God, too. All the suffering, all the joy, all the good times and bad … that’s also God.

Let this perspective of divine omnificence enter your consciousness, and watch your problems recede like waves in the infinite ocean. For armed with the wisdom that everything is God, how could anyone even entertain the ridiculous notion of hurting the Earth or their fellow humans?

All one

One morning, while hiking through the woods, I had a sudden and profound realization: I am in everything and of everything I am. As the birds sang their joyous melodies and I breathed in the fresh mountain air, I said the following aloud to myself: “I am these chanting birds and I am the warm, inviting air filling my own lungs with the breath of another springtime in bloom.”

As I continued my little pilgrimage up an old logging road to higher elevations, I realized that I, too, was a part of the mountains. I then began to feel raindrops gently fall upon me, so I took refuge under a beloved and ageless tree. I wrapped my arms around its timeless trunk and gave it a great big bear hug!

In that moment, I realized that my wise friend, the tree, was also a part of me. Finally, I arrived at the top of the mountain, and I stared in awe as a breathtaking, smoky mist swept across the blue majestic peaks standing in all their glory before me. Humbled, I basked in that moment, knowing beyond a doubt that I am in everything and in everything I am.

Telepathy

Words are such a small part of how we communicate. If anything, words disrupt the natural flow of spirited dialogue, if our intentions aren’t right. But beyond the outer reaches of our minds lies a subtle plane of awareness so open and so pure that our hearts speak in the silence between words, as the feelings and thoughts of others become our own. This is the true meaning of telepathy.

The sage who lives among us

One day, a great sage approached a beggar on a street corner and said: “Good day, kind sir. Please teach me what you’ve learned.”

The beggar eyed the strange man, who was dressed in a red silk robe, and then quietly replied: “We’re born, we suffer, we find meaning in our suffering, we grow old, and then we die and are reborn.”

A knowing smile broke out across the sage’s face, as he bowed to the beggar and said: “And so it goes, wise one. And so it goes.”

Deathless Spirit

All we are is stardust
Fractals of cosmic waves
Dancing in an ocean of love
Life has meaning
A message
And a sacred rhythm
That drums to the beat of one

I used to be afraid
I used to run from the world
I used to fear the haunting spectre of failure
But then I came to see
My mind was my own worst enemy
And that what I truly feared
Was none other than my own mortality.

Faithful Remembrance

Child of the Night,
I hear your whispers
I hear your screams
And I feel your suffering
But keep your head up
And heart open
Dear one,
For the incantations that you chant
Faithfully to yourself
Shall soon be answered
One hundred-fold
And, always remember
Just like the seasons
You have danced this dance
And sung your soul’s heavenly chorus
Before…
Melancholy nights
Cannot deter your spirit
From journeying to the light
That illuminates the divine within all.

Good Friends

Two women riding bikes

Good Friends
Are like Hidden gems
And the gift of family
That you choose…
Who can understate the blessings
Of a true friendship
Very few will ever know?
As time marches on,
And as our bodies grow old
Our souls will always remember the day
That we met our best friend
And they will smile and say:
“Thank you, God,
For all the love in my life.”

Perennial Questions

Is the raft
floating across the river
Really going anywhere at all?

Is the shore
That the raft is moving to
Really, in truth, the destination?

Is the river
Guiding the raft across its waters
Really guiding anyone at all?

And is the woman
Sitting upon that raft
Really sitting, or is she simply being?

Luminous Essence

Having too little faith will turn one into a hopeless nihilist
But having an abundance of faith will attract others to your light
Don’t be like a dog chasing its tail
Or an office worker complaining day in and day out
Doing nothing to improve their lot—
For beyond all the world’s illusions lies the ultimate reality
At once transcendent and imminent
Filled to the brim with love
Beyond birth
Beyond death
Omnipresent
Within everything
But like an old lamp
You have to first remove the layers of dust
To see its luminous essence.

Simple Wisdom

Speak
But don’t talk too much

Listen
But not with your ears
Through your heart

Move
But only as quickly as your feet will allow

Seek
But only to fulfill your soul
Nothing else

And always remember…
Everything that came before
Made you who you are now.

The Four Rules of Life

The best dwellings are built simple and plain
The best teachers are awake without ever knowing
The best leaders are always mindful of their actions
And the best servants are those with open hearts…

Simplicity
Humility
Mindfulness
Compassion…
The four rules of life.

Right Mind/Right Action

Question everything you hear
But cultivate your own inner faith
Ring the alarm bells
When the situation demands
But always return back to your centre
Speak truth to the abuses of those in power
But never forget that you are also them
And when no one will stand
To defend your righteous causes
Turn within to find that your peace of mind
Is better than any external validation.

The Supreme Church

One day,
The Great Blue Hills of God decided to speak
And this is what she said:
“Be present as you climb my hallowed peaks
Be still as you bathe in my flowing creeks
And be grateful as you stroll through my Green Oasis
But most importantly,
Please remember to heed the wisdom
And feel the love
That lives in these sacred mountains…
For no church built by the hands of humans
Can possibly compare to my altar of divine worship.”
