In this story, Mother Bear teaches her cubs the importance of being thankful to the Salmon People. The cubs (and the readers) learn that respect is necessary for true gratitude. The Mother wants to give her cubs “important things” to think about, things readers are asked to contemplate, too.

In addition to telling a story, The Way of the Bear is a coloring book for adults on the right-hand pages and a kids’ coloring book on the left. The adult coloring book pages are wonderfully detailed while the children’s coloring book side features simpler, fun animal designs for kids to color.
