Dalai Lama - Indiegogo Campaign Update

Indiegogo Campaign Update

As many of you may know, The Mindful Word ran an Indiegogo fundraising campaign from October 28 to December 21, and we managed to raise $691—not bad for our first crowdfunding attempt! We would like to take a moment to express our gratitude to our generous donors. Every dollar helps us further our mission, which is to promote a culture of engaged living, and provide opportunities to writers and other creatives. We’d also like to thank those who were unable to donate money, but shared the campaign on their social networks instead.

Our campaign team has had a chance to discuss the results, so here is a summary of what we will spend the funds on:

1. Paying the designer for the winter 2013 digital magazine issue, and the spring 2014 issue ($100 in total).

2. Reimbursing campaign team members for money spent on gifts and shipping during the campaign.

3. Additionally, most of the handcrafted gifts we have left over are on sale here. All proceeds from the product sales (after accounting for postage costs) will go to support The Mindful Word.

A small amount of these gifts, as well as some of the donated books (including a few by Thich Nhat Hanh and Eckhart Tolle) are being given out as prizes for a contest we’re holding on Facebook. If you’re a fan of our Facebook page, you can earn points by liking, commenting on, and sharing posts, plus posting things yourself. At the end of each month, the top three people on our Booshaka.com leaderboard will win prizes.

Although we didn’t raise enough funds to pay contributors upfront for each article they’ve written, they will be paid based on their share of earnings from The Mindful Word. For more information, visit the Become a Contributing Member page. If you still have questions that this page hasn’t answered, send an email to contact@themindfulword.org or consciouscreativity@themindfulword.org.

Once again, thanks to all of you who donated! If you were unable to donate during the campaign, but have even a few spare dollars now, we’re still accepting donations, and are grateful for any amount we receive. Click here to visit the donations page.
