Morning sun shining on trees

POEMS BY JAMES FARWELL: 10 haiku about meditative living

I.

It is, it isn’t
things are what they are, or not
we’re left with what is.

II.

Our self-pain darkens,
our thoughts, our hearts, our being
The sun’s warmth heals all.

III.

Compassion melts pain
A smile, a hello, a touch
Brings us together.

IV.

Honour the moment,
All unhappiness dissolves,
The struggle ceases.

V.

Human pain creates
A reservoir of wisdom,
Life renews itself.

VI.

Living out our gifts,
In joyful exaltation,
The human soul soars.

VII.

No mountains to climb,
Through meditative living,
Our God-Essence speaks.

VIII.

Thoughts and feelings, both
Distinct languages spoken,
Equally valid.

IX.

Without Source, we cease,
Created in God’s Image,
Eternal Life lived.

X.

When our eyes close shut,
Other eyes begin seeing,
And the sun rises.
