Mysterious TAO
Everything in nature is fleeting
Leaves turn colour and fall away
Trees grow old and some decay
Caterpillars undergo a glorious metamorphosis
Into butterflies….
While the mountain winds
And ocean tides
They come and go
Yet,
Beneath its seeming impermanence
The Earth moves in cycles
Guided by a divine hand
Whose intentions are
Pure
Wise
And knowing
From the sunrise and sunset
To the cycles of the seasons
The TAO gives breath to
Both the seen and unseen
In the wild.
Earth Dance
The Earth is soft
Beneath your feet
Feeling
Perceiving
You move
To that ancient song
Of your Mother
Within moments
The forest birds
Pipe in
With their chorus
And the crickets too
Express with delight
Their rhythms
Through the night
And the wind howls
As the pitter-patter
Of falling raindrops
Plays percussion
To the ecstatic dance
You are part of
Move
Child of the Earth
Feel your steps merge
With the wisdom
Of her spirit
That nurtures
And loves us all
Under the open sky
Is where you will find
The bliss of ecstatic union
Now, Go,
Dance and rejoice!
Faithful Promise
If I knew, I would
Share the secrets of this Universe
With you
If I could, I would
Voyage with you
To the depths
Of inner wisdom
If I heard that you
Had entered the cave of enlightenment
I would drop to my knees and exalt
This sacred green Earth we walk on
If I saw the light
Of illumination in your eyes
I would sit beneath the Bodhi tree and pray:
For all souls’ deliverance
Into your world
Of seeing One.
The Self
What are we?
Not atoms
Not molecules
Not compounds
Stardust we are
Fragments of an energy
Beyond the space of imagination
Perpetual motion
Products of Creative evolution
The forms of timeless seasons
The ultimate ground of being
Transcendent light illuminating
Green forests permeating
The depths of knowing….
We are all THAT
Nothing less
Nothing more
Climbing the mountain of consciousness
Is how wisdom is born.
Timeless Truths
The African drum beats
With great rhythm
Kirtan echoes
Through temples of love
Sufi dancers swirl
With ecstatic delight
Gnostic monks pray before
Their saviour on the cross
Bodhisattvas sit cross-legged
Under the tree of life
The names for ONE
May vary
But the range of expressions
Gives light to
The timeless truths
Of our being.
An Ode to One
One day, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords
Turned to IT’s beloved disciple, the Great Seer, and asked:
“Is it clear not to all who meditate upon me
That I am called by many different names?”
To which the Great Seer replied:
“Why, of course, Noble One!
To some, you are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords
Yet, others would know you as the Supreme Controller,
The Sublime Originator and the Eternal One—
Still, others would say you are the Divine Mother
Or the Wise Knower….”
Satisfied with the Great Seer’s response
The Cosmic Godhead inquired of IT’s loyal disciple once more:
“And is it clear not, dear seeker of Incomparable faith and devotion
That I, too, assume many different forms and appearances
For those tuned in to my form transcending essence?”
“That is indeed so, Oh Master Sculptor and Grand Architect
Of ALL planes of luminous awareness,
You are the sunrise at dawn and the sunset at dusk
The rain and lightning of an afternoon storm
And the majestic rainbow that appears to awe all those blessed
To view your breathtaking beauty….
You are the lush green forests teeming with life drawn
From the eternal fountainhead of divine knowledge.”
Beaming with delight
The Omnipresent Source transformed IT’s body
Of radiant orange light
Into wondrous Blue Mountains and replied:
“Great Seer, Noble Companion and Inner Voice of Timeless Odes to Love
Join me as the dirt-laden trails that guide aspiring seekers in pilgrimage
To my hallowed peaks of awakening.”
The Great Seer bowed before the enormous blue altars
And was instantly transformed
Into the rich soiled paths for all beings to travel
In their quests to achieve
Enlightenment upon the mountaintop!
