WRITE YOUR LIFE STORY: The #1 question that will continually transform your life

There’s a saying, “Everyone has a book in them.” I believe that there is a spiritual truth behind this quote. This truth relates to your journey as a unique individual and a unique soul, and your ability to shift, transform and improve your life in the here and now.

I often speak about how there are three stories to life:

  • The story that we write
  • The story that is being written through us
  • The story that we can co-write with God

It is within this third story that you find your life continually transforming for the better—where you feel more confident in your purpose, your path and your next steps in life. Yet, for most of us, the challenge is understanding how to co-write our life and “story” with God.

While there are a number of methods to begin doing so, I will share one powerful question you can ask that will get you started and transform your life moment-by-moment.

Your life, and every experience in it, is not all predetermined, but a living, breathing story that shifts and transforms over time. This story is a collaborative effort between you and God. At any moment, you can turn to a new page in your story (make a positive change in your life) and experience the benefits of doing so. You can create opportunities to make your life profoundly better. Every day, you’re being called to do so.

Now is the time you can transform your life

WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR ME – The 1 Question that will continually transform your life

Imagine, for a moment, that you have a book in front of you, and within the pages of this book is your life thus far. Each page is filled with your experiences since birth—every joy, challenge, discovery, mistake, success and more.

As you open the book, you find that it lands on a spread that has one partially blank page. You see that the words have stopped mid-page, and you realize that they’ve stopped because the story has come to this very moment where you now sit.

Your soul is speaking to you. And because your soul is also connected with God, so too is God speaking to you.

As you gaze at the page, a sudden and profound sense of love and peace comes over you. It resonates from within, compelling and guiding you to turn the page, pick up a pen and be ready to help write what comes next. With an innate knowing, it becomes clear that this desire and opportunity for a fresh page does not come solely from you, but from something far greater.

Your soul is speaking to you. And because your soul is also connected with God, so too is God speaking to you. You realize that you’re being given a brand-new page on which to write. It doesn’t mean that the previous pages are erased or are no longer important; it means that you now have the opportunity to carry over whatever you desire or reflect back on life experiences that are beneficial in your journey as you move forward.

Recognizing the significance of having a fresh page on which to write, you feel inspired to do something that you’ve perhaps never done before—you ask God first what you should write. When you do so, what you’re doing is connecting to something greater that is beyond the mind, personality and ego that have thus far been, for the most part, making the decisions about your life.

“What do You want for me?”

WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR ME – The 1 Question that will continually transform your life1

This is the #1 question to ask. It’s a simple question with a powerfully positive impact. You ask this question to God (or the “Universe,” or “Spirit,” or whatever word feels most comfortable for you). And you will have variations of this one question, depending on what you’re currently experiencing, wondering and questioning.

For example, you might ask:

  • “What do You want for me as I pursue this goal in my business (or life)?”
  • “What do You want for me to know as I experience this challenging event, relationship or circumstance?”
  • “What do you want for me to learn through this experience?”

Whatever the specific question may be, it all comes down to, “What do You want for me?” There is always an answer to be revealed.

What you’re doing when you ask this question is allowing a divine guiding presence to come more fully into your life and your awareness.

This is where you begin to co-write your story with God.

You ask the question, listen and then take action towards achieving your goals and desires for your life. When you get into the practice of asking for guidance through a question like this, in time, answers are revealed and you begin to experience an ease and flow in areas of your life where you once struggled.

Just imagine walking around in your daily life with a stronger sense of purpose and joy, and the confidence that despite not having all the answers, you’re always guided and never alone. Imagine that no matter what comes your way unexpectedly—good or bad—you have peace knowing that you can shift, transform and improve the story you are living. Asking this one question each day allows you to do just that.
