DREAM

Hi Aneta,

I’ve had a number of dreams about wolves but this is a recurring one.

I’m in a long wooden hut with some other people. I don’t who they are or how many. We are being attacked by wolves that are outside of the hut in the darkness. There’s light shining out of the windows and doorways of the hut and the wolves don’t seem to like being in the light.

I’ve got a handgun to defend us and can see the wolves’ yellow eyes watching us from the darkness. They’re making darting runs along the outside of the cabin and I run from right to left following the wolves past the doorways and shooting at them as they appear in the light but never hit them. I’m conscious I’m running out of bullets and the wolves will eventually be able to tolerate the light and enter the hut.

DREAMER: Male, GB, 34.

MAIN SYMBOLS:

Hut – a place in mind

People – unknown aspects of the dreamer

Wolves – habits

Light/windows – awareness

Handgun – tool to cause change

INTERPRETATION

Dear Martyn,

Thank you for sending in your dream…

Your dream talks about you, the dreamer, being in a state of mind that is not common or very well known to you (the hut) where you feel attacked by a set of habits (wolves). You perceive these habits to be quite vicious, dangerous in a way. With a tool to cause change (handgun) you attempt to kill these habits, yet you realize that you do not have enough bullets to do so and that eventually the wolves will enter the hut. Killing in a dream represents forced change.

The dream is telling you that there are habitual ways of being that you are attempting to change, and to even change forcefully, and yet you do not believe you can do so. There is awareness (light/windows) within you that you know that the habits cannot withstand, however you also know that the habits are stronger than you.

APPLICATION

Since this is a reoccurring dream I would pay much attention to it. The dream is coming to you multiple times to help you transform habitual ways of being. Are you able to relate what sorts of habitual behaviours or attitudes the reoccurring dreams are recounting to you?

It is crucial for you to connect this with your waking life experience and to realize that whatever habit the wolves represent you do have the power to overcome it and shine enough awareness and understanding upon it that it will be transcended. This is an overall powerful opportunity to learn a very important lesson. Whatever the wolves represent facing and overcoming these ways of inner or outer being will set you free for life.

It’s important to know that habits can be expressed on a mental, emotional or physical level. A habit is not necessarily something that we do physically, it might be a set of negative beliefs or an emotional reaction such as fear.

As with any obstacles in life, in the long run, it’s better to face them than to avoid them. It’s much easier to do so when we call upon our mind before taking physical action. First see yourself overcoming these habitual ways of being, believe that you can do so, become excited about it and then act. There’s much to discover in the process…

May your dreams illuminate the inner you…
