CHALLENGING TIMES: Forgiveness can ease stress and boost immunity

As the world wrestles with many challenges, including communicable diseases, natural disasters, political turmoil and more, people need simple, effective tools to maintain or restore their peace, clarity, vitality and immunity. Forgiveness is one such tool.

It is especially important during times of crisis, which can trigger our wounds and test our resolve. When fear, frustration, sadness or worry arise, we can apply forgiveness to heal our hearts, minds and souls, and to peacefully exist.

The impact of forgiveness is profound. Research shows that in addition to the peace of the soul, heart and mind that comes with forgiveness, it brings great benefits for your health. These include:

  • Improving your immune system’s response
  • Regulating your stress response
  • Reducing your overall level of anxiety and depression
  • Lowering your risk of a heart attack
  • Improving your cholesterol levels and sleep
  • Reducing your pain and much more

The power that we have in forgiveness is truly amazing.

How to forgive

One fundamental issue with forgiveness is that people may not practice it or know how to accomplish it. Blockages such as the ego, attachments, judgments and more can get in the way.

It takes dedicated practice to become more forgiving. It requires that we move past right and wrong, or good and bad, and step into the realm of unconditionally forgiving. This is spiritual growth, and it may not come easily.

Forgiveness practice is analogous to basic meditation practice, with the added intention of asking for and offering forgiveness with others. Forgiveness practice helps us connect with something authentic and transforms our soul, heart, mind and body by releasing blockages—such as negativity, jealousy, resentment, anger, fear, worry, depression, physical pain, heartbreak, financial challenges and more. Let’s look at how that works.

In a book called Tao Science: The Science, Wisdom and Practice of Creation and Grand Unification, authors Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha and Dr. Rulin Xiu present a grand unification theory that is rooted in the Law of Shen Qi Jing, which states that everyone and everything is made of shen, qi и jing.

Shen is information, and has three components: soul (content of information), heart (receiver of information) and mind (processor of information). Qi is energy (mover of information) and jing is matter (transformer of information). The Law of Shen Qi Jing also states that soul (information) leads heart, heart leads mind, mind leads energy and energy leads matter.

In this framework, soul, message and information are all the same thing. Science speaks of information and message. Spirituality speaks of soul and spirit. They are, in fact, one. Soul, or information, is what guides all life. Human beings have great mental power and free will, but it is the information—made up of the messages in our souls—that ultimately rules life.

Our souls store both positive and negative information, based on our experiences (and those of our ancestors). The extent of our emotional imbalances (fear, worry, sadness, etc.), what we believe, how we act, what emerges in our lives and more—these things are all rooted in our information.

The good news is that we have the power to transform negative information into positive information. By connecting to the soul, we can change the information blocking us in our lives and experience better health, more happiness and greater success.

For example, a person’s response to a stressful situation (i.e. the potential to contract a communicable disease) is largely influenced by their informational makeup. Practicing forgiveness for any imbalance—no matter how slight or ‘warranted’—can lead to healing through a transformation of the information.

We don’t need a perpetrator or any details. We just need to be able to acknowledge that we are somehow involved in the imbalance; that we (our souls and our ancestors’ souls) have been part of the creation of the circumstances. Then, we need to apply forgiveness.

Forgiveness practice transforms negative information and helps us accumulate positive information at the soul level, which is soul growth. As a soul gathers positive information, it gains power, wisdom and greater abilities.

Genuine forgiveness is one of the main qualities that can grow our souls. Anytime we struggle physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually, negative information has been triggered. Even if we don’t understand it, we can apply the wisdom of forgiveness and work to transform it, which will move us towards greater health on every level.

Four power techniques

Below is a simple practice applying the Four Power Techniques® from Master Zhi Gang Sha’s teachings.

Body Power: Sit with your back straight, in a chair, in lotus or half-lotus position. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your lower abdomen, below your navel. You may also lie down with the same hand position, but do not chant aloud, because it can drain your energy.

Soul Power: Connect with souls and communicate the following message.

Dear _______ (Divine, God, Creator, Source, Lord, Universe—whichever resonates),
Dear all souls that my ancestors and I have harmed, and those that have harmed us,
My name is _____________.
I would like to practice forgiveness.
I sincerely apologize for the ways that my ancestors and I have hurt or harmed you.
Can you please forgive us?
I unconditionally forgive you and all souls that have harmed my ancestors and me.
I ask my ancestors to do the same.
May we live in love, peace and harmony together.
Thank you.

Mind Power: See beautiful golden light in your own heart, and surrounding all the souls you have called, in a circle of forgiving light.

Sound Power: Chant the following, silently or aloud.

I forgive you unconditionally.
You forgive me unconditionally.
Bring love, peace and harmony.

Chant for a minimum of three to five minutes, or for as long as you’d like. Once you are finished, say “Thank you” and “Respectfully return” to the souls you have called.

The key is to practice forgiveness with sincerity and honesty. We can apply forgiveness for anything, including in the presence of explained or unexplained emotions and discomfort. We can continuously heal ourselves to become happier and healthier.

Forgiveness not only sets us free, but it also frees the souls we have forgiven, or those who have forgiven us. This increases the positive information and connectedness for all souls involved. It is expansive and restorative.

Unconditional forgiveness can truly bring love, peace and harmony to your life.

Let us practice and accomplish greater forgiveness.

Let us create a more positive and peaceful world.

I wish you peace and calmness through these challenging times.
