DREAM

I had a very weird dream that I remember faintly. When I awoke, I received an email that led me to you. I remember seeing my mother’s name written on a piece of paper.

My son was lying on a massage table while I was packing his clothes. He was leaving to go with my Dad. My son looked as if he didn’t want to go. I asked my Dad where they were going and he told me they were going into space for a week and would be back on Friday. I was worried because I didn’t want my son to go into space without me.

DREAMER: Female, 27, U.S.

MAIN SYMBOLS:

Son — developing, familiar inner aspect of the dreamer

Dad — Superconscious aspect of the dreamer

Space — the “Unknown”

INTERPRETATION

Hello Ariel,

Thank you for sharing your dream. How interesting…

According to the dream research and studies at the School of Metaphysics, each person in a dream represents an aspect of the dreamer. Those of the same gender represent conscious (outer) aspects and those of the opposite gender represent subconscious (inner) aspects.

Anyone in an authority role in the dreamer’s life such as parents, the President or spiritual teachers represent Superconscious aspects. Those are aspects related to the inner authority of the Self, the dreamer.

Babies symbolize new ideas and children symbolize developing, maturing aspects of the dreamer. Those whom we recognize in a dream are familiar aspects and those whom we don’t recognize are unfamiliar.

The key point is for each person appearing in the dream to be identified by two qualities that they represent to the dreamer. This has to do with how the dreamer perceives that person based on his/her experiences, rather than how that person “should be” perceived or is seen by others, by the world.

Given all of the above, your son represents a familiar developing inner aspect of you and your Dad a Superconscious aspect of you.

What are the qualities that they reflect to you? Only you can determine that.

Your son and Dad leaving for space sounds like an exploration of the unknown, an exploration of the world beyond physical reality. The dream reflects that you have some fears in regard to that exploration.

APPLICATION

If this were my dream, I’d explore more deeply my interests in anything metaphysical, spiritual and so forth. Your inner Self (your son) is wanting to explore more of the “unknown” with your Highest Self (your Dad); however, there’s fear that surfaces in relation to this—which is very common for all of us.

Fear can be interpreted as “False Reality Appearing Real.” In other words, fear is a construct of our imagination. It is not what is.

There’s a need for you to surrender to your inner soul-urge, your quest to go beyond what can be received simply through the physical senses. There’s more to our existence than physical reality and your inner Self is calling you to explore that.

You could start small. You could go to a bookstore, to a spiritual/New Age section and see if any particular book catches your attention. You could go online and browse through a variety of meetup groups in your area and see if any of the subject matter grabs your attention.

This exploration is meant to be fun and free-flowing. As you allow yourself to learn new things, you’ll discover more parts of yourself and become more whole, more in touch with who you really are.

May your dreams illuminate the inner you…
