DREAM

Hi Aneta,

I don’t remember enough of my dreams to be able to do much with, but I remembered a decent amount of this one. I think it also may be a reoccurring dream, which could be part of the reason why I remember more of it.

A bunch of guys walk into a building to rob it. They see me making eye contact with them and one singled me out and asked if it was OK to pretend to shoot me (I suppose if they had to show the police that they were shooting a hostage). He would shoot the ground but then as he was practicing falling and shooting he showed me that if the gun went another way I could get shot.

I waited and sometime later I managed to stealthily sneak out. Then I heard shooting. Yelling and cries came from that room. I was hiding in a dark place under a cabinet. People came looking for me (to tell me the robbery is over I guess) but I still didn’t come out until later.

DREAMER: Male, Canada, 38.

MAIN SYMBOLS:

Guys – unknown outer/conscious aspects of the dreamer

Building – a place in mind

Robbery – an attitude of taking from

Shooting someone – forced change

Dark place – lack of awareness

INTERPRETATION

Dear Kiva,

Thank you for sending in your dream. Here is what it tells you about your reoccurring state of mind:

You are exploring new places in mind: that can mean new ideas, new possibilities or perhaps new responsibilities. As this exploration takes place you feel a sense of being taken from (robbery) by some outer parts of you (guys). One of the aspects in particular plays an important role in that it covertly implies a forced transformation (shooting) which never actually takes place.

Once you managed to escape those aspects and state of mind you retreat into a hiding place without much awareness (dark place under a cabinet).

APPLICATION

Since this dream is reoccurring it symbolizes a state of mind that you experience from time to time. Once you respond to the message contained in the dream the dream will cease to occur or it will evolve.

Question to ask yourself is: are there ways in which I feel taken from without my consent? An example might be a continuation of a volunteer activity where you feel “obligated” to continue to do it because it’s “the right thing to do” even though it does not bring you fulfillment any longer.

You need to re-evaluate all the activities you’re engaging in and examine why you’re partaking in them. This process is to encompass all the activities including your work, your daily responsibilities, your fun and play. Often it’s not that we need to completely quit what we’re doing, but rather recentre ourselves as to the intention behind us taking part in a particular activity. The idea being that we learn through everything we participate in by developing different qualities like patience, tolerance, compassion and so forth.

When we set a clear intention for the major activities that we engage in, we enrich ourselves by cultivating new character traits and new ways of being.

May your dreams illuminate the inner you…
