Tidepooling

Like strobe lights
blinking
in the shallow
rumpled
pool of water
the footprints lost
in mud
as jealous water
rushes back
to fill the gap
left by things
that don’t belong.

Perceptions

Summer sunsets burn, but,
winter sunsets bow,
slipping imperceptibly into
the twilight glitter that
suddenly
bursts in to constellations
cut from the night’s fabric.

K.D. Aerey lives in New Hampshire, and can often be found wandering the shores of the ocean, or rehabilitating horses. K.D. meditates by running long distance.
