Momma

Momma I thought you should know,
I am confused as anything,
When I see them eatin’ all night,
Momma why can’t I get one bite?

Momma I thought you should know,
I am 5 now,
But I can’t see no light,
Momma, you said it would be black and white.

Momma I thought you should know,
Those kids ain’t nice,
They always startin’ fights,
Momma, am I supposed to be alright?

Momma it ain’t pretty,
I saw a girl gettin’ robbed,
For nothing more than a dollar and a bag,
Momma what’s in the bag?

Momma I don’t like the way I see,
Everything around me,
Momma the world is so ugly,
But you promised me pretty.

Momma I was 6 years old today,
When a man picked up that gun,
He said give me all the money,
And you told me to run.

Momma what is all that red,
That stained your pretty new dress,
Momma they say you’re dying,
Momma what’s dying?

Momma they say you’re gone,
But can you please come back,
Momma they say you’re gone,
And I got to go to a new one.

I love you Momma.
