The Mindful Word is a magazine focused on the engaged lifestyle. We are primarily interested in stories that feature lesser known approaches to living and thinking.
Features
We publish feature articles in a range of styles, including fiction, creative non-fiction, essays, interviews and travel writing. We tend to prefer articles written from a personal perspective. There’s no minimum or maximum word length for the features.
Photography & artwork
All genres are accepted for the print and online editions of the magazine.
SECTIONS
Mindfulness in practice
Provides readers with easily accessible mindfulness practice techniques that can be used in everyday life. We’re interested in short, service-driven pieces that relate “mindfulness practice techniques” (200-400 words) and “bells of mindfulness” (less than 30 words) from personal experience.
Reviews
Capsule reviews of conscious media (books, cds, films, dvds, websites). The focus is on independent or lesser known mainstream sources. (250-350 words)
Wholistic Health
We publish articles about health and fitness modalities that take a wholistic, mind-body-spirit approach to health. This section is service-oriented and should be written from an experiential perspective or take a DIY how-to approach (500-1000 words).
Poetry
We’re especially interested in poems that engage the reader's imagination and senses through well-crafted imagery (any length considered).
