* Share a weekend getaway with others interested in fostering the shift toward a more life-sustaining society
* Network with people of like mind, heart and spirit
* Explore together what we can offer the Great Turning

THE INVITATION:

You are invited to a weekend getaway with others who are interested in fostering the shift toward a life-sustaining society. This will be a relaxed, very loosely structured weekend for participants to share, explore and network with others of like mind, heart and spirit. In these dangerous and exhilarating times, strengthening our connection with the natural world and with others who desire social and environmental change can help us to find strength and joy, and to replenish our vitality, inspiration and creativity. This weekend offers a restorative, fun, nourishing experience in a beautiful natural setting with a community of peers. Explore what you need at this time and what you and others have to offer to support the work of the Great Turning.

THE PROGRAM:

On Friday night there will be a shared meal and an opening circle to help participants get to know one another. On Saturday and Sunday mornings there will be the option for participants to join in and/or lead body-mind practices such as yoga or meditation. On Saturday morning the conveners will facilitate a very informal “open space” process that will allow participants to collectively create and manage their own agenda for the weekend. The process will support participants to clarify what they want to get from the weekend as well as what they and others have to offer; whether that is leading or participating in a discussion about a particular aspect of the Great Turning, a hike on the Bruce Trail, a labyrinth walk, a swim, or anything else that strikes your fancy.  On Saturday night participants will cook and share a meal together, followed by a celebration with music and dance. Please bring your voices, instruments and dancing feet!  The weekend will conclude Sunday afternoon with a closing circle.

THE SETTING:

The weekend will take place at Kimbercote Farm (www.kimbercote.org), a rural retreat facility about a two hour drive northwest of Toronto (carpooling is encouraged and will be supported through the registration process.)  Kimbercote is committed to “social and environmental justice, activism, education, advocacy and programming; spiritual exploration, art, living, music, planting, play, healing, making visions and dreams happen.”  Kimbercote boasts an organic garden, sustainable technologies (wastewater biofilter, composting toilets, passive solar house, rainwater catchment, etc.) and beautiful natural surroundings. On-site there are walking trails through old growth protected forest, an outdoor labyrinth, wetlands, swimming in the Beaver River and access to a beautiful section of the Bruce Trail. Georgian Bay beaches and the spectacular Collingwood Scenic Caves are within a 20 minute drive.

THE DETAILS:

When: Friday, July 24th at 6:00 p.m. to Sunday July 26th at 3:00 p.m.
Where: Kimbercote Farm near Collingwood, Ontario, about two hours north of Toronto For directions visit www.kimbercote.org.

Registration:

To register, please return the attached registration form by e-mail or mail by July 3, along with your $50 deposit.

Fees
Sliding scale: $130/$180/$230 for 2 days/nights, with some subsidies available (see below). The low rate covers costs for a minimum of 10 participants in single and double rooms in the farmhouse conference centre or tent space plus delicious catered meals made from local, organic food.  The mid and high rates include a donation to help subsidize those less able to pay, help to cover room and board expenses of the two organizers, and allow for the possibility that, if registration is fewer than ten, we can still hold the event. A deposit of $50 is included in all rates.

Subsidies
If cost is an obstacle to your participation, a limited number of partial subsidies will be available, thanks to the generous donations of those who choose the mid and high fee rates.  Each application will be carefully considered in terms of financial need and funds available.  Due to limited resources, we cannot guarantee that every application will result in a subsidy.  You may apply on your registration form.

Deposit
Please pay your $50 deposit (or the full amount) by July 3 by sending a cheque to Amanda Henderson at 183 Browning Avenue, Toronto, M4K 1W7.  After July 3, add $30.
