Hi Everyone,
I've got the site onto Google Analytics. For those of you who don't know how Analytics works, it's basically a way to see how many people are visiting the site, what content they are viewing, how they are finding the site and more.
If any of you would like access to the statistics, let me know. I can only share them with you if you have a Google account, so let me know what your Gmail address is and I'll grant you access.
We've only had it running for about a week, so we don't have much to go on. I have here a few things that might help us:
- We are averaging about 10 site visits per day (good, but could always be better!)
- visitors are viewing an average of 3.79 separate pages during each visit
- Average time per visit is 4 minutes (not great, we need to increase this)
- About 50% of all visits are new visitors (good - new people are discovering us!)
- We have a 55% bounce rate, which means that 55% of visitors are leaving the site from the same page they came in. (This means they are not going further into the site - not so good.)
- 50% of our visits are coming directly (as in they are typing
www.themindfulword.org into their browser.) This is nice because it means they know who we are.
As for referring sites, we're getting traffic from:
slowmovement.com
facebook.com (social networking at work! woo!)
People who found us via search engines typed in certain keywords to get to us. These include:
matt mccaigue
contemplative photography
the mindful word
We can use this information (once we have more of it, of course) to tailor some content based on what people are searching for.
The people who spend the most time on the site searched for us directly.
The most popular content is on the home page, followed by the article titled "CREATING 21st CENTURY LIFE-SUSTAINING SOCIETIES."
I'll keep you posted. We can use this data to get more visitors to the site and to provide content that will better serve those visitors.
Let me know your thoughts.
Laura
