Fireworks over river - The Combination poem

POEM BY KATYA BITAR: The Combination

Last updated: March 26th, 2019

The Combination

I am absolutely positive
That in absolutely every dimension,
In every alternate universe my energy ripples through,
It is always
With you

Our undulations have aligned
And flow,
So much so
We have created a river various fishes inhabit,
Where frogs sneak away to at night,
Where rocks grow a thickening moss,
Where dead petals spend their afterlife,
Where the only electricity is stars,
Where insects and their entire families survive,
Where the velocity of the river sounds
like something man-made—an engine eating itself,
Where water’s not so unnaturally pure

  1. I love how the passion of this piece reinvents the love poem: “the velocity of the river ? an engine eating itself”! So unexpected and muscular. Hope to see more of Katya Bitar’s work.
